Albany-William J. Streck, Sr., 75, of Albany, N.Y., passed away on January 4, 2026. Born on August 21, 1950, Bill was a man who radiated love and kindness in all that he did, guided by a genuine desire to make others feel cherished, supported, and never alone. A devoted catholic, father, and truly beautiful soul, he lived with an open heart and an unwavering commitment to those around him. His faith was the foundation of his life. He lived humbly, compassionately, and selflessly, striving each day to reflect God's love through his actions.
Bill was a graduate of Hudson Valley Community College and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his honorable military service, he embraced a life of self-employment, working diligently and with quiet determination. He later found great purpose in his work at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center, where he spent five years devotedly serving fellow veterans-an extension of his lifelong commitment to compassion and service.
Bill was always ready to lend a helping hand, he gave freely of himself-whether to a stranger in need or to family he loved beyond measure. Known for his optimism, warmth, and boundless generosity, Bill had a remarkable way of uplifting others through quiet, meaningful acts. Even in the face of life's challenges, he remained a source of encouragement, light, and steady strength to all who knew him.
Bill is survived by his four sons, Billy Streck (Jenn), John Streck (Chloe), David Streck, and Tom Streck; and his two daughters, Amy Streck and Sarah Streck. He is also lovingly remembered by his granddaughter, Taylor Streck, and grandson, Jett Streck. In addition, he is survived by his brother, Michael Streck (Mary-Jane), as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews who will forever cherish his memory. He is also survived by Donna Streck.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Cecelia Streck; his beloved son, Mark Streck; and his sisters, Peggy, Linda, and Susan.
Family and friends are invited to gather to share memories and celebrate a life defined by love, generosity, faith, and quiet strength on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 4-6pm at the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 6:00 p.m.
