William Gerald Scheffler

North Greenbush - We are saddened to announce the passing of William G. "Bill" Scheffler on October 10, 2026. He was born in Albany on December 1, 1972, and was the beloved son of Kathleen McMahon Scheffler and the late Fredric "Fritz" Scheffler.

Bill was a 1991 graduate of Columbia High School and owner of Scheffler's Tree Service. He could climb and take down a tree with great precision, making a hard job look easy. Bill was an avid Steelers fan. He enjoyed fishing and hiking with his dog, Ginger. Bill always took the time to help his neighbors and friends.

He is survived by his siblings Michael (Susan) Scheffler, Kimberly Scheffler, James (Kimberly) Scheffler, and Marie (André) Galipeau. Bill is additionally survived by his Aunt Jeanne McMahon, and uncle Col. William Scheffler. He was the beloved uncle of Marcus, Kayla, Jessica, Alyssa, Fritz, André, and Joey. Bill is further survived by his great nephew Finn, and his many cherished cousins.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude and thanks to their good friend and neighbor Darci Edwards; for all her help and support.

Family and friends are invited to visit with Bill's family from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 19th, 2026, at the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer. A memorial service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Inurnment in Calvary cemetery, Glenmont, will immediately follow the service.
