William T. Pratt

Rensselaer-William “Bill” T. Pratt, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the Eddy Village Green Nursing Home in Cohoes, NY.

Born in Boston, Bill was the son of Mary Catherine Gallagher of Enystyman, County Claire, Ireland, and Edward Pratt of St. Paul, MN.

A graduate of Van Rensselaer High School, Bill served honorably in the Korean War. He spent most of his life in Rensselaer, where he worked at Winthrop Laboratories. In his younger years, Bill enjoyed traveling, playing basketball and baseball, and became an avid golfer. A lifelong reader and lover of conversation, he was known for his cheerful disposition, sharp wit, and the Irish twinkle in his beautiful blue eyes.

He was predeceased by his brother, Edward L. Pratt (Elizabeth Spath); his sister, Katherine Donnelly; and his nephew, John Donnelly. Bill is survived by his beloved niece, Rosemary Crawford of Cohoes, her four children and grandchildren; his devoted nephew, Edward Pratt; and many extended family members.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at The Eddy Assisted Living at Hawthorne Ridge in East Greenbush, the “special angels” of House Seven at The Eddy Village Green in Cohoes, and the dedicated caregivers from Albany County Hospice.
