Selkirk-Virginia Jean Jessie (Siedlecki) Lamere, 88, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026. Virginia was born on March 21, 1938, in Niagara Falls, to Matthew and Margaret Siedlecki. She was affectionately known by some as "Susie," a nickname given to her by her grandfather. She spent her childhood in North Tonawanda, NY and then she resided in Selkirk for most of her adult life. Virginia worked at the NYS Tax Department and then retired from the NYS Department of Transportation in 2003.
Virginia loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She also loved elephants of all sorts, New Orleans and sharing her cooking with others, especially her famous macaroni salad.
Virginia is survived by her beloved daughters, Michelle (Gary) Thornhill, Laurie Lamere, and Christine (Jay) Ingraham. She leaves her adored 5 grandchildren, Gary Thornhill, Jennifer Knapp, Jessica Ingraham, Jason (Aly Parrott) Ingraham, and Matthew Kahler. She is also survived by her brother James Siedlecki and her ex-husband Clifford W. Lamere.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her brother John Siedlecki.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 2-3:30pm at the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer. A service of blessings will follow at 3:30pm.
