Sylvia A. Bruno

Sylvia Santore Bruno, 75, of East Greenbush, New York, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. 

Born in Albany, Sylvia was the beloved daughter of the late Selvo and Viola Santore. Sylvia was a proud graduate of Van Rensselaer High School. She dedicated 42 years of her career to the New York State Comptroller’s Office, where she worked as an administrative assistant.

Sylvia was the beloved wife of Francis Bruno, her high school sweetheart, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage. Together they built a loving home filled with love, laughter and memories to last a lifetime. Above all else, she was the loving mother to Tara Friello (Michael), Nicole Bruno (Steven), and Steven Bruno (Kristina), a proud grandmother to her three grandchildren, Vincent, Parker, and Santino. Her grandchildren held a particularly special place in her heart, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Sylvia is also survived by her brother, Michael Santore (Barbara), along with many nieces, nephews and friends who will remember her fondly. 

Sylvia enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She loved shopping, going to the casino, trivia night and spending time with her friends and family. She especially treasured gatherings surrounded by the people she loved. Her family was her greatest joy, and she took immense pride in watching her children and grandchildren grow. 

Sylvia will be remembered for the love she gave to her family, the friendships she built throughout her life, and the many memories she created with those closest to her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. 

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Sylvia’s family on August 22, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave. Rensselaer, NY 12144. A memorial service will begin at 12:00 p.m.
