Rosemary C. Gier

Rensselaer - Rosemary C. Gier passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2026, at her home, following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born January 2nd, 1951, in Albany, Rosemary was the daughter of Edith Bedard. She graduated high school and later went on to complete a program through Empire College; becoming a chaplain.

Rosemary spent many years working at Northern Pneumatics before dedicating her time to volunteering as a chaplain with Community Hospice at Albany Memorial Hospital.

She was kind, generous, compassionate and loving. Rosemary found her greatest joy with her family and in her garden.

She was predeceased by her mother, and by her brother, Donald Farthing, Sr.

Rosemary is survived by her beloved children: Connie Ortiz, John (Sherri) Moore, Beth (Amanda) Moore and Sarah (Aaron) Granger. She also leaves behind her adored grandchildren: Jeremiah, Enoch, Jessica, David, Caleb, Lily, Katharine and Madeline.

Rosemary is additionally survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to acknowledge Sarah for taking care of Rosemary following her diagnosis and up until her passing.

The family would also like to thank Community Hospice for their care of Rosemary.

Services will be announced in the coming weeks; burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
