East Greenbush-Robert ‘Bob’ Savicki, age 78, of East Greenbush passed away surrounded by his family after a long illness. Bob was born in Clinton, NY in 1947 to Albert and Leocadia Savicki.
During his school years, he was an incredible athlete playing football, basketball and track. Shortly after graduating college, he was drafted into the US Army, becoming a nuclear biological and chemical warfare specialist. Before leaving for Vietnam, Bob married the love of his life and soul mate Karen Acee of Clark Mills on October 3, 1970. He left for Vietnam six weeks later. During his time in Vietnam, he wrote Karen a letter every single day and refused to remove his wedding band in combat.
Bob and Karen were married 55 years and had three beautiful children: Stephanie and Ed Maturo, Robert and Elizabeth Savicki and Mark Savicki. He always referred to his grandchildren as his ‘four amazing grandchildren': Madeline Savicki, Emma, Aidan and Olivia Maturo. They were the light of his life and even in his final days, he always had a smile for them.
Bob worked for the New York State Department of Health for over 30 years. He was an avid runner throughout his adult life. He loved hiking, soccer and gardening. He created the most beautiful landscapes which you can see at his home and the homes of his children. He had a green thumb and all flowers thrived under his care. He and Karen also loved to vacation with family and friends. In 2017, Bob planned a two-week vacation to Kauai to share this beautiful island with the people he loved the most.
Bob is predeceased by his brother Francis, his brother-in-law Romey and his parents.
He is survived by his adoring wife Karen, his three children and four grandchildren and siblings Joyce Savicki, David and Gail Savicki and Paul Savicki, his sister-in-law Ann Eisenhut, his brother and sister-in-law Anthony and Christina Acee, and countless extended family members and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Church of the Holy Spirit, 667 Columbia Turnpike, East Greenbush beginning at 9:30 am. A Funeral Mass will follow the calling hours, at 11:00am. Burial will be held privately at the the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. Schuylerville, NY.
