East Schodack-Robert "Bob" Clow, born Jan. 27, 1941, died peacefully Jan. 24. He lived a life deeply rooted in craftsmanship, service and a profound love of nature.
Bob was a welder by trade, a skill he carried with pride throughout his life. He also served his country in the U.S. Army, where he worked as a welder and blacksmith and earned qualification as a sharpshooter. His discipline, self-reliance and quiet strength were hallmarks of both his military service and his civilian life.
Outside of work, Bob found his greatest joy in simple, meaningful pursuits. He loved to cook and tend to his garden and was known by many as "Farmer Bob" or "Bright Eyes." He appreciated solitude and could often be found sitting outside, soaking in the peace of the natural world. His German shepherds were constant companions, and his bond with them reflected his deep respect for loyalty and routine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Clow Sr. and Mary Clow; his brother, retired Lt. Col. Alfred Clow Jr.; and his sister, Mary Clow. He is survived by his ex-wife, Barbara; his children, Deborah and Christopher; and his grandchildren, Victoria, Samantha and Michael.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 4-6pm at the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, NY. A funeral home service will follow at 6pm. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery in East Schodack will take place at a later date in the spring.
