East Greenbush - Richard C. Folmsbee, Sr., age 81, of East Greenbush, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
Born in Albany on January 22, 1944, Richard was raised in Castleton-on-Hudson and made East Greenbush his home for over 45 years. He dedicated 21 years of service to the New York State Department of Labor, where he drove truck and moved offices throughout his career. A hardworking and dependable employee, he was known for his strong work ethic and rarely took a day off.
Richard was charismatic, very friendly, and deeply loved by all who knew him. He would always wave hello to anyone he met and was known for having the greatest smile. With a wonderful sense of humor and a natural ability to make people laugh, he earned the affectionate nickname "Coffee Rich" and left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
Richard was married to his beloved wife, Cheryl L. (Stone) Folmsbee, for 46 years. Together they built a life centered on family, love, and devotion. He is survived by his children, David (Heather) Folmsbee, Jeremiah (Rachel LaVigne) Folmsbee, and Matthew (Kathy) Folmsbee, and from a previous marriage, Rose and Ricky. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Kyle, Alexander, Paris, Ryan, Nandini, Nikhil, Amaan, and Quinn. He is also survived by his half-brother, Timothy Truesell.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. A celebration of Richard's life will be held in the spring.
The family would like to sincerely thank Community Hospice for their kindness, care, and compassion shown to Richard and our family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory may be made to Rensselaer Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.
