Richard J. Clements

June 19, 1942 — March 9, 2021

Brunswick- Richard James Clements, 78, entered eternal life, Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at home, after a brave fight with heart disease. Born in Albany, Richard was the son of Samuel and Florence Mullis Clements. Richard "Dick" graduated from Cardinal McCloskey H.S., and attended Hudson Valley Community College. He worked as a Structural Draftsman at NYSDOT, Bridge Dept. As a skilled craftsman, he started his own design build firms Compass Solar Heating and Compass Builders. He further worked for Colonial Supply, Tyree Org, Sano-Rubin and Vieni Associates. He served as a volunteer firefighter at Averill Park-Sand Lake Fire Co. Richard was a dedicated communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Troy and Saint Henry’s Church, Averill Park and served as a presenter in Worldwide Marriage Encounter. Richard donated his time and skills to help others make household repairs. In his free time, he was a model railroad hobbyist and liked to build things such as the Loose Caboose playhouse. He shared a love of camping with his family, which began during his childhood at Fish Creek. He loved golfing, sailing on his boat, “Ruthless”, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. He was the loving husband of Ruth Campbell Clements for 52 years; father of Karen (Michael) Conway; Richard (Lauren) Clements; Kenneth (Meghan) Clements. He also is survived by his grandchildren, Ceili and Evelyn Conway; Emma and Grace Clements. Richard was the brother of Arlene (the late John) Musante; the late Samuel (Joyce) Clements; the late Kathleen (Bill) Mooney; and the late Jerry (JoAnn) Clements; the brother-in-law of Bill (the late Carol) Campbell; David (Barbara) Campbell and Cynthia (Dennis) O’Sullivan. He also is survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Albany Med, and especially to his primary care physician, Dr. Paul Lemanski. Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Monday, March 15, from 4-7 pm at W.J. Lyons Jr Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave, Rensselaer. The mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 16 at 10:30 at Sacred Heart Church, 310 Spring Ave., Troy. Interment will then follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
