Castleton - In the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 2, 2025, Gina Chenot passed away at St. Peter's Hospital after a long illness that she so bravely fought. She was the daughter of William J. Snyder and Margaret A. Snyder Flannery, both of whom she missed dearly and is now reunited with.
Gina devoted her life to raising her boys and embracing the beautiful chaos that came with a house full of hungry kids, baseball equipment, and a strict open door policy to any and all friends or family. Her home was always a gathering place where everyone felt welcome. She was a familiar face at the East Greenbush baseball fields, cheering her sons on through hot summer days, cold fall evenings, and everything in between. She also served as the EG Pop Warner Vice President for a short time.
She loved her yearly Aruba trips with family and friends and was so happy when her grandkids started to join her in her favorite place. She enjoyed pressing her luck at local casinos, cooking for any occasion big or small, making witty comments, caring for her grandkids, and shopping. She managed to do all of this while sipping on her Dunkin Donuts coffee, which rarely left her hand. Gina had a gift for finding joy in simple things and sharing that joy with everyone who crossed her path.
If you knew Gina, you loved her. She carried a gentle presence, a kind heart, a smile that could brighten any room, and a spirit that was giving and selfless in every possible way.
Gina was the devoted wife of Bill Chenot Sr. and the proud mother of Billy Chenot Jr (Kristin), Ryan Chenot (Elizabeth), Patrick Chenot, and Matthew Chenot (Kiera). However, her greatest honor in life was becoming a GiGi to her grandchildren Audrey, Cooper, Easton, Torin, Kason, Avery, and Kyler.
She is survived by her siblings Gerry Elsbree (Kenneth), Bill Snyder, Joe Snyder, Bob Snyder, Tom Snyder, and Bridget Ardoin (Jeremy). She was predeceased by her sisters Mary Anne Snyder and Meg Pasarela. Gina is also survived by many nieces and nephews and by her best friend, Lee Fiorino, who loved her dearly.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses on the fifth floor and the ICU at St. Peter's Hospital for their dedication, compassion, and the hours spent caring for Gina with patience and grace.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Albany Ronald McDonald House or the Make A Wish Foundation, two charities close to the family's heart.
