Schodack- Raymond A. Wilcox Jr., 80, of Schodack, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, June 28, 2025. Born on March 19, 1945, he was the son of the late Margaret (Cooley) and Raymond A. Wilcox Sr.
Ray was a proud lifelong resident of the Capital Region. He attended St. John's Academy and Van Rensselaer High School. A hardworking man, Ray spent much of his life behind the wheel of a concrete mixer, first with Port Concrete in Albany and later with Clemente Concrete in Troy.
Deeply rooted in his community, Ray was a proud member of the Rensselaer Athletic Association and the Knights of Columbus. He gave generously of his time as a coach with Rensselaer Little League and was a supporter of the Rensselaer Pop Warner football program. He had a special way of connecting with youth and always encouraged teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun.
Ray was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in camping, hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. In his younger years, he loved working on his car and motorcycle. He had a lifelong passion for woodworking and music, and especially treasured time spent boating, tubing, and waterskiing with his grandchildren. The Adirondacks held a special place in his heart - a place where many cherished family memories were made.
Above all, Ray will be remembered for his generous spirit, deep love for his family, and the joy he found in life's simple pleasures. His presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
