Patrick J. LaMarre, 64, of Rensselaer, passed away February 4, 2026, at home, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Born March 30, 1961, to the late William P. LaMarre and Marie Grainer LaMarre. Pat was known by many names by his friends and family, Pappy Joe, Runt and Oyster Stew (just to name a few) - which showed his personality and "legendary" status.
Raised in Rensselaer, Pat was a graduate of Rensselaer High School and attended classes at HVCC. He lived for a short time in Texas and resided for the last several years in North Greenbush. He was married in 2024 to Enecita "Ann" Formentera and they enjoyed day trips around NYS with their beloved dog Rocky. Patrick worked for NYS Parks & Recreation for many years and then retired from NYS Department of Transportation.
Patrick was full of fun and adventure, made friends everywhere he went and despite the daily challenges he faced lived a full life. He loved boating, camping and snowmobiling with his family and friends. There wasn't a dare he would ever turn down or a prank he wouldn't participate in - well known for his hijinks. He was a loyal member of the "garage club" at Heims and loved the camaraderie of that merry group, who looked out for him whenever the need arose.
In addition to his wife, Parick is survived by his loving siblings - Kathryn Henry; William La Marre, Jr. (Donna); Donna Tremblay (Philip); Tricia Smith (Barry); Christine Myers (John). He was also survived by and loved by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; the many friends he has made over the years who have meant so much to him. Patrick is predeceased by his brother, Donald "DJ".
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 4-6:30 p.m., at the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer. A funeral service will follow at 6:30 p.m.
The family would like to thank the nurses from Community Hospice for their support and kindness in their care of Patrick, especially Jen and Grace.
