Patricia Ann Fitzgerald Hogan Whitford, born on July 27, 1938, in Albany, NY, to Mary Smith and James Fitzgerald, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025.
Patricia dedicated many years of her life to the Rensselaer Jr./Sr. High School, where she worked before retiring. She continued serving her community at the Rensselaer Public Library after retirement.
A woman of faith, Patricia was a longtime member of the St. John the Evangelist Church choir in Rensselaer, NY, and sang with the Joyous Sounds Barbershop Quartet. She found great happiness in the company of family and friends and enjoyed many social activities including Bingo and Bunco at the Schodack Fire House.
She was an avid fan of Westerns, concerts, plays, and especially loved cheering on her children and grandchildren at their sporting events-softball being a favorite. A lifelong supporter of the New York Yankees, Patricia's spirit was as lively as her love for the game.
Patricia was predeceased by her parents; her husbands, Donald John Walter Hogan and David Whitford; her sister, Mary E. Fitzgerald Manning; and her beloved granddaughter, Jamie N. Hogan.
She is survived by her children; Diane P. Hogan (Duane Bailey), Dawn P. Hogan, James F. Hogan (Nina Shafer), Patricia M. (Hogan) Clements (Russ Clements), Donald P. Hogan (Patricia Morelli Hogan); Her grandchildren: Jaclyn M. Giancamillo, Amanda D. Giancamillo (Tyler), Travis J. Hogan, Jennah N. Hogan (Jay Rose), Audrey R. Clements, Meaghan P. Hogan, Bridget E. Hogan, and Jocelyn Shafer; Her great- grand children: Cora E. Jusino, Milo A. Scattareggia, Lilliana C. Scattareggia, Nixon O. Giancamillo, Owen D. Clark, Mario A. Giancamillo, Oscar L. Giancamillo. Patricia is also survived by her niece, Kathleen (Manning) Gough (Alan) and their children; Michael Gough, Roxanne (Gough) Price (Tyler), Christopher Gough, and Julie Gough. She is additionally survived by her great-grand nieces and nephews: Peyton, Levi, Cole, Abigale, Joleen, and Blaire.
Patricia's faithful companion, her beloved dog Puppers, was always by her side.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the security and nursing staff at Van Rensselaer Manor, especially Laurie (Cook) O'Hanlon, for their compassionate care. Special thanks also to the staff of Optum and Community Hospice for their dedication and kindness.
Patricia's life was one of love, laughter, music, and unwavering devotion to those around her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Sunday, September 21, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the W.J. Lyons, Jr., Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer. A Mass of Christian Death and Burial will be offered at St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph Church, 54 Herrick Street, Rensselaer, Monday, September 22, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow the mass in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
