Lynn E. Carlson

Rensselaer – Lynn E. Carlson, 66, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, June 15, 2026.

Born in Albany, Lynn was the daughter of the late Marion and Frank Hollner. She graduated from Albany High School in 1977 and continued her education at Maria College. Lynn worked as a medical office assistant before dedicating herself to raising her children. In 2008, she joined the Rensselaer City School District, where she remained a valued employee until her retirement in 2025.

A lifelong member of Bethany Reformed Church, Lynn was a woman of faith, kindness, and devotion. She had a special love for animals and enjoyed the companionship of her beloved greyhounds throughout the years. Lynn found joy in bowling, camping, and especially in spending time with her grandchildren.

One of Lynn’s favorite places was her beach house in Saco, Maine, where she cherished countless memories with family and friends.

Lynn is survived by her beloved husband, Mark A. Carlson; her children, Alex (Tarah) Carlson, Nathan Carlson, and Ryan (Darlene) Carlson; and her cherished grandchildren, Bella Peasley, William Carlson, and Lydia Carlson. She is additionally survived by her sister, Lisa Empie, along with several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit with Lynn’s family on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Bethany Reformed Church, 760 New Scotland Ave, Albany. Interment will immediately follow at Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands.
