Lorraine M. Cummings

North Greenbush-Lorraine Mary (Hutchinson) Cummings passed away on May 29, 2026. She was born on July 4, 1934, to Benjamin Wood Hutchinson and Mildred Louise (Ostrander) Hutchinson.

Lorraine was a devoted and loving mother to John Whitney Cummings, Jr. (deceased), James Wood Cummings (Nancy), Jeffrey Walter Cummings (Leanne), and Joel William Cummings (Christine). She was a cherished grandmother to Nicole, Amanda, Lauren, Justin, Megan, Evan, and Benjamin; and a proud great-grandmother to Jaycee, Violette, Landon, Preston, Sam, Juliette, Lucy, Gwendaline, and Avalinde.

She is also survived by her sister, Diane Louise Hutchinson, and her brother, Roger Alan Hutchinson. Lorraine treasured her friendship with Robert Matthews and will be remembered for the love, kindness, and dedication she shared with her family and friends throughout her life.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

When I leave you, do not remember me old and frail.

Remember my work at Hudson Valley Community College.

Remember my courage in adversity.

Remember me climbing mountains and running road races.

Remember me biking and cross-country skiing.

Remember me water skiing and kayaking on the lake.

Remember winter hot dog picnics in the woods.

Remember me swimming and working out at the YWCA

Remember me graduating from SUNY Albany with honors at age sixty-five.

Remember all the love I had in my heart for everyone.

Family and friends are invited to visit with Lorraine's family on Monday, June 1, 2026, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home Inc, 1700 Washington Ave, Rensselaer NY 12144. A Funeral Service will follow at 4:00 p.m, at the funeral home.
