East Greenbush- It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Kevin Patrick McCarthy, 49, announce his passing on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. Born and raised in West Springfield, MA, he was the son of Francis McCarthy and Mary (LaBreck) McCarthy. He graduated from West Springfield High School and from Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY. In high school and college, Kevin excelled in soccer and played post-graduate in a semi-pro league for which he became a certified referee. He was passionate about English League soccer & proud to call Manchester United his team. He was a lifelong New England sports fan, loyal to the core to the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. Kevin’s real estate career began with L&M Development in Larchmont, NY. As the VP of Development for Norstar Development USA Albany, NY division for more than 15 years, Kevin was responsible for creating more than 2,800 affordable apartments in New York, Michigan and Alabama. His consummate professionalism, commitment and grace with which he carried out his work changed the lives of countless families. Regardless of good days or bad, he never lost his amazing sense of humor and was an absolute warrior in his fight against pancreatic cancer. Always “Living the Dream.” In addition to his parents, Kevin is survived by his loving wife of almost 22 years, Laurie Lineberry McCarthy; and his incredible daughters, Madison Isabel and Sadie Margaret McCarthy. Brother of Clare McCarthy, East Haddam, CT; Kelly McCarthy (John Tulik) Truro, MA; Maureen Howe (Alan) West Springfield, MA; Barry McCarthy (Sarah) Somers, CT and Brendan McCarthy (Jenn) Easthampton, MA. Son-in-law of Peggy ( David) Ernst, East Greenbush, NY and Chuck (Mary Ann) Lineberry, Oak Park, CA. Brother-in-law of Alycia Ernst-Amador (Paul) Scottsdale, AZ; Craig Lineberry (Stephanie) Voorheesville, NY and David Ernst, Saratoga, NY. Uncle of Caitlin McCarthy (Christian Bueng), Chase Gregor, Maeve McCarthy, Julia, Aidan and Maisie Lineberry. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins and his bold and furry boys, Wesley and Liam. Special thanks to Dr. Lawrence Garbo and staff at NYOH; to the Hospice staff of Visiting Nurses; and to all the family and friends who so kindly and generously sent cards, prayers and food. Funeral from St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford, Monday morning at 10:00. All are welcome to attend. Calling hours will be held at the W. J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue Rensselaer, Sunday afternoon from 2-5 PM. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to High & Mighty Therapeutic Riding & Driving Center, 71 County Route 21c, Ghent, NY 12075.
