John H. Frechette, Jr.

Rensselaer - John H. Frechette, Jr., 67, of Rensselaer, NY, passed away at home on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. Born in Albany, NY in 1958, John was the beloved son of the late Martha (Durkee) Frechette and John H. Frechette, Sr. He retired from New York State after working as a mail and supply clerk with the SUNY Administration.

John was a talented bass player and found joy in playing songs by KISS and Iron Maiden; spending many hours strumming along to his favorite bands. He enjoyed building intricate LEGO models and spending quiet days fishing. John was a gifted artist.

For many years, John proudly played shortstop at the Arbor Hill softball field, where he made happy memories. He was a lifelong fan of the L.A. Rams and never missed a chance to cheer them on.

John was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Donna Schraa (Mike).

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Laura; his brothers Marc and Ronald; his sisters Sandra Tolbert and Francene (Vosco) Hicks; his brother in law, Mike Schraa; his special sister-in-law, Maria Toteno; and many beloved nieces and nephews, all of whom brought him great joy.

John's kindness, humor, and creativity will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The family will celebrate John's memory privately, and no public service will be held. To honor John's memory the family asks that you do an act of kindness for someone; as John would like that. Cards of sympathy and support for Laura would be deeply appreciated.
