Peter O'Hara

Rensselaer - Glenn Peter O'Hara, lovingly known as Peter, 86, of Rensselaer, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in Central New York, Peter graduated from Weedsport Central School in 1957. He continued his education at Auburn Community College and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, pursuing a degree in engineering. Peter dedicated over 50 years to a fulfilling career at the Watervliet Arsenal and Benét Laboratories, later continuing his work as a contractor in retirement. His efforts contributed significantly to improving the safety of artillery systems for the U.S. Army.

Peter and his beloved wife Jean, his partner of 57 years, shared a deep commitment to community service. Together, they volunteered with Sand Lake Ambulance for 20 years and served at both Mt. Lebanon and Watervliet Shaker Villages for over three decades.

He is survived by Jean, their three children-Brendan, Anna, and Jennifer-as well as many cherished extended family members. Peter was predeceased by his parents and his brother, David.
