Eva Y. Vanvranken

February 4, 1933 — June 10, 2020

Eva Y. Weatherby VanVranken, 87 of East Greenbush, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2020 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn. She was born in Belcoville, New Jersey and was the daughter of the late Charles Davis and Sara Williams. She attended The Belcoville School until the age of ten. She then moved to Cape May Court House where she graduated from Middletownship High School in 1952. She met her first husband, William Weatherby, and they were married Dec 25th, 1952. They resided in Pleasantville, NJ where they began their family. Together they had 5 children, Larry, Billy (Jean), Ellen (Bill Niemiec), Susan and Harry. In 1965 they moved their family to the East Greenbush area. She was a homemaker and loved being with her children. She was predeceased by her husband, William, in March of 1971. After his passing she purchased a house in North Greenbush. At the same time she began her career as a housekeeper for several doctors and lawyers in the Albany area which continued for approximately 35 years. She also worked for the Broadway Bakery in East Greenbush. In 1973 she was introduced to her second love, Norman P. VanVranken, by her beloved friends, Arba and Joan Ferguson. They married on July 12th, 1975. They had many wonderful adventures and cherished memories together. In 2003 Norm and Eva moved in with their daughter, Ellen and enjoyed many, many wonderful family gatherings and road trips. In 2011 Norman passed away and she continued to live with her daughter until her passing. After losing Norm she began coloring in and completed numerous books. It became her passion and pastime. She also enjoyed many evenings of playing canasta and other card games with her family. She was an avid New York Yankee fan and Green Bay Packer fan until her son-in-law converted her to the Pittsburgh Steelers. She was also a member of the Gerald O’Neil Post #1683, American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed being involved in many of the fund raisers held at the post and firmly believed in supporting our veterans. In addition to her 5 children she also leaves behind to cherish her memory, her brother Charles (Doris) Williams and her sister Loretta Spendiff. Additional survivors include ten Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Due to the current pandemic, a private service for immediate family only, will be held at the convenience of the family. She will be interred in Elmwood Hills Cemetery in Troy. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider making donations to St. Peter’s Hospice Inn in Albany.
