Elisabeth A. Defrancesco

November 15, 1935 — January 31, 2024

Delmar-Elisabeth A. DeFrancesco, 88, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. Elisabeth (Bethel) was born on November 15, 1935, to the late Anna (Bowes) and Alois Juppner. She was predeceased by her loving husband of over 55 years, John DeFrancesco. Raised in Rensselaer, Elisabeth was a graduate of Saint John’s Academy where she enjoyed attending pep rallies, sporting events, and being a cheerleader. Growing up as a young girl she loved ice skating, bike riding, camping and spending time with her three sisters. After being married, she became a devoted homemaker and impacted her community by volunteering time working the snack bar at the school's sporting events. She also enjoyed doing ceramics and writing an occasional poem.

Elisabeth loved the water; she was an avid and dedicated swimmer, swimming laps everyday at the town pool or the YMCA, well into her 80s. During the summer, she enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Elm Avenue Town Park. Elisabeth looked forward to traveling to Florida with her husband each winter, until his death in 2015. Elisabeth loved dancing, listening to live music, and a good movie. She entertained her family by singing rhymes, teaching them endless cheers, and recounting stories from her younger years. Her candid and unwavering spirit will be dearly missed.

Elisabeth is survived by her sister Lois (Thomas M.) Leonard of Lakewood Colorado and her four children, John DeFrancesco (Darlene), Joanne Genovesi, Connie DeFrancesco, and Andy DeFrancesco (Darcy); six grandchildren, Nichole Krisanda (Gary), Tommy Genovesi (Maddie), Leanna DeFranceso, Johnny DeFrancesco, Ian DeFrancesco, Anthony DeFrancesco; and six great- grandchildren. Elisabeth is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and caring friends. Elisabeth was predeceased by her sisters Greta (William L.) Forest and Agnes (William J.) Powers.

Services will be private at the request of the family.
