Donna L. Garner

Donna L. (Sluus) Garner, 79, of West Sand Lake, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Troy, NY, on March 13, 1944, to Mary and Elmer Sluus.

Donna loved the Adirondacks, fishing, sewing, and spending time with family. She devoted every day of her life to her family. Her greatest joy was her 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was the epitome of strength and kindness. Always going out of her way and showing her concern for others’ needs and wishes above her own. A true inspiration to her family and friends.

Donna is survived by her children Ronald Garner (Diane), Jeannette Berben (Tony), Roger Garner, Donna Perry (Alan), Mark Garner (Naomi), and Kasey Bruce (Bryan).

Donna is also survived by her sisters Carol DiMaggio, Barbara LaClair (Richard), Karen Williams, and her sister-in-law Cindy Sluus. She was predeceased by her brothers Robert, Dennis and Roger Sluus.

Donna’s children would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at NYOH Albany Cancer Center. A very special thank you to Jonathan, Sierra, and Lexi for their overwhelming care and kindness.

A memorial service will be held at the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave. Rensselaer, Friday, September 22, at 6:30 pm. Family and friends are invited and may call prior to the service from 4:00-6:30 pm, at the funeral home.
