Listen to Obituary

Donna Lynn Carr, 71, transitioned peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 after being cared for in her Loudonville home by her family.

Donna grew up in Rensselaer and was the daughter of James E. Best Sr. and Angela Ring (Goggy), and beloved step-daughter of Jack Ring. She was the sister to five siblings, Sharren Best, James E. Best, Jr. Janis Stergion, Bonnie Best, and Nancy Campbell. Donna graduated from Rensselaer High School and lived her entire life in the Capital Region. She was loved and admired by peers and was a deeply devoted mother.

Donna spent most of her life caring for her children Michael O'Sullivan, Shannon O'Sullivan, and Sarah Carr.

Donna worked as a legal secretary and later as a mediation counselor. She loved the outdoors, being active, and sitting by the pool in her beautiful backyard. During retirement, Donna spent much of her time tending to her home and engaging with her passion for flowers and gardening. Donna cherished her role as Goggy, and spent much of her free time being a Grandma to her three grandchildren, Ryleigh O'Sullivan, Kennedy Paden O'Sullivan, and Skyler Paden O'Sullivan.

Donna was a strong independent woman who was fiery, caring, funny, and always committed to self-reflection and growth. Even though her physical body has transitioned, the imprint of her spirit will be with us forever.

A mass in her name that is open to the public will be held on Saturday December 6, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at The Parish of St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph in Rensselaer, New York.
