Dean L. Bauer

Rensselaer - Dean L. Bauer, 61, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, May 8, 2026. Born in Albany on June 26, 1964, he was the son of the late Edward Bauer and Eleanor (Lasher) Bauer.

Dean was a graduate of Albany High School and went on to work for many years as a self-employed carpenter. He was a loving father and grandfather who always brought smiles to his family with his kind heart and wonderful sense of humor.

He is survived by his sons, Dean L. (Naida) Bauer Jr. and Bryan E. (Shannon) Bauer; his cherished grandchildren, Ofelia, Kenneth, Walker, and Remi Bauer; his siblings, Marge (Dave) Kimmel, Lois (Richard) Lauster, Jane (Paul) Brunk, and Dale Pogoda; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former wife, Darlene DiTonno. The family would like to extend a special acknowledgment to his dear friend, Freddy Boyzer.

In addition to his parents, Dean was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Mull, and his brother, Edward Bauer Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Dean's family on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the W.J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer. A funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at Kinderhook Reformed Church Cemetery, County Route 21, Kinderhook.
