Rensselaer-Dawn Marie Osuch, 68, of Rensselaer, NY, passed away on November 12, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Born on April 28, 1957, to the late Albert and Mary (Robinson) Osuch, Dawn lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and a deep love for children and family.
Dawn's calling to work with the pediatric population began at St. Margaret's of Albany, where she served as a child care technician. This early passion inspired her to pursue a career in pediatric occupational therapy-earning an associate degree from Maria College of Albany and a bachelor's degree from Syracuse University. She went on to serve in various school districts and educational systems, touching countless young lives with her skill, kindness, and unwavering patience.
Outside of her work, Dawn embraced life fully. She treasured traveling with family and friends, especially the cherished tradition of York Beach vacations, as well as many memorable international trips. She found joy in seeing live music- James Taylor, Kenny G and OneRepublic among her favorites-and later became an avid knitter, crafting heartfelt gifts for those she loved. A fan of winter sports, she delighted in skiing and ice skating, welcoming every season with enthusiasm. She was also a proud and passionate New York Jets fan, attending many live NFL games, cheering with loyalty through every season.
Dawn was a hardworker, a lifelong learner and was proud to be the first in her family to graduate from college, paving the way for future generations. She brought this same spirit to her role within the family-always introducing a new game, sitting on the floor to play and create with the children, and nurturing traditions that will carry on for years to come.
She is survived by her sisters Karen Pelech, Mary Ellen Millett, and Kimberly Massaroni (Joseph); her nieces and nephews, Timothy Pelech (Alyssa), Sara Meehan (Patrick), Morgan Thomas, Nicholas Massaroni (Heather), and Donato Massaroni; her great-nieces Isabella (Nicholas), McKenna, and Adelle Pelech, Hattie Meehan, and Chloe and Cora Thomas. She also leaves behind countless friends whom she loved as family. Dawn will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the joy she brought to every room.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 4-6pm, at the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer, NY. The family will share words of remembrance at 6pm.
