David T. O'Neal

Clifton Park-David T. O'Neal, 72, passed away suddenly in his home early Saturday morning, August 9, 2025. Dave was one of five sons of Marianne Carner. He grew up in Castleton, NY. During his life he planted roots throughout the Capital District with long term residences in Clifton Park and the Rensselaer area.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 49 years, Kathleen O'Neal and their four daughters, Amy (David) Locitzer, Rebecka (Robert) Goron, Jenny O'Neal and Erin O'Neal as well as his grandchildren, Brady Dunham, Patrick and Thomas Locitzer, and Madison, Ryan and Violet Hampson. He is also survived by his brothers, Gary and Michael O'Neal, Matthew and Jeffrey Carner as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his mother Marianne, step-father Warren and his son, Brian Patrick O'Neal.

Dave was a retiree of G.E. Chemical/Momentive in Waterford. He devoted his life to his family. He would rarely be seen without the company of Kathy or one of the girls. He was a proud Papa to his beloved grandkids, even though they didn't get his sense of humor. In his younger years, summers were filled with family road trips, camping and theme parks. Winters were reserved for snow forts, sledding and snowball fights. He was a child at heart. He had a love for fishing, playing games and gardening. In his later years his quiet hours would commonly be spent reading or assembling puzzles.

His daughters considered him the family hero. He was always there, no matter what, no matter when, no matter where. Most knew him as a good hearted man who would extend his kindness and helping hand as often as he could. He will be remembered and loved by many.

Relatives and friends are invited and may visit with David's family on Thursday, August 14, 2025, from 4-6pm. A funeral home service will follow at 6pm.

Burial will be held private.
