David Miers, 71, of Nassau, New York, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family.

David dedicated many years of service to the East Greenbush Central School District before retiring. He was a hardworking man who found joy in the outdoors and especially loved fishing and hunting. He also carried a deep appreciation and pride for his Native American heritage, which remained an important part of his life throughout the years.

Above all, David loved his family and the simple moments spent with those closest to him. He is survived by his three children, Nicole Alkurabi, Holly Wasula, and Justin Miers; his cherished grandchildren; his sisters, Judy Keyes, Joan Miers-Snyder, Jean Amanatides, and June Carreon; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

David will be remembered for his quiet strength, his love of nature, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with David’s family from 4:00-6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the W.J. Lyons Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave. Rensselaer, NY 12144.
