Clara T. Concolino

Rensselaer- Clara Theresa Concolino, long time resident of Rensselaer, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday October 22, 2022, at the age of 104 at Albany Medical Center with her children Rose Marie and Thomas at her side.

Clara was born in Oneonta, NY and resided with her parents Thomas and Assunta Granati and her sisters Anna and Virginia in the nearby hamlet of Colliersville. She graduated from Oneonta High School in 1936 and went on to graduate from Albany Business College in 1937. While in college, she resided with her aunt Rita in Rensselaer and after graduation stayed in the area and worked as a secretary at the Sterling Drug Co. in Rensselaer.

On June 6, 1943, she married her beloved husband Joseph "Babe" Concolino of Rensselaer who resided 'just down the street' from her aunt. Clara and Babe enjoyed 65 years of marriage until his death in 2008. Clara was selfless, and her husband, children and home were her priorities. She was a wonderful wife, mother, cook, housekeeper, and devout Catholic.

Clara was predeceased by her dear husband Joseph, parents Assunta and Thomas Granati, in-laws Concetta and Giuseppi Concolino, sisters Anna (John) Pugliese and Virginia (Carl) Tessitore, and brother-in-law Joseph (Ann) Penesso. In addition to her children, Rose Marie and Thomas, she is survived by her granddaughter Erica Concolino, her grandson Thomas (Renee) Concolino and great grandchildren Julia and Jacob. She also survived by her several nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass in Clara's honor will take place at 10 o'clock at St. John's Church, Herrick Street, Rensselaer, NY, Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022. Relatives and friends are invited and may call prior to the Mass from 9-10AM. The Christian Rite of Committal will take place at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Third Avenue, Rensselaer, NY.
