Caroline Weichsel

Troy- Caroline Boschen Weichsel of Troy, NY returned to our Lord on Friday, May 9, 2025 in Scotia, NY surrounded by her loving family, leaving a void her family cannot fill. Born in Ridgewood, NY on February 26, 1929 to Frederick and Caroline (Diesenberg) Boschen, Caroline attended Newtown High School. Caroline married Otto J. Weichsel on November 10, 1951 in Middle Village, NY, where they resided until 1965, when they moved their family to Troy, NY. They were married 50 years.

She was a parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Troy, NY and a former parishioner of St. Jude the Apostle in Wynantskill, NY. She worked as an usher for the Midway Theater and for the New York Telephone Co. on the long distance lines. She enjoyed working in the catalog departments at Montgomery Ward and Sears. Her happiest job though was being a mother. An avid mystery reader, Caroline also loved doing counted cross stitch, sewing, and antiquing. She loved to bake and was known for her German stollen, lenten donuts and cheesecake. Spending time in York Beach, Maine with her family was a favorite pastime. She was a Girl Scout Leader and spent many years running the concession stand for Twin Town Little League. 

Caroline was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Otto J. Weichsel. Remaining to treasure Caroline's memory are Elizabeth Weichsel of Rensselaer, NY, Patricia Leece of Scotia, NY, Philip (Karen) Weichsel of Wynantskill, NY and Margaret (Jeff) Radley of Rensselaer, NY She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and a nephew, Rev. John Amann of Douglaston, NY. 

The family would like to thank The Community Hospice for their wonderful care, especially Ann, Kara, Emily and Lexi.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Caroline's family on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the W.J. Lyons, Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave. Rensselaer, NY 12144. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 175 Williams Rd., Troy, NY 12180. Interment will immediately follow the mass at St. Mary's Cemetery, 79 Brunswick Rd. Troy, NY 12180.
