Rensselaer-Beverly Ann (Pratt) Ryan made that quantum leap into eternity where she will find Jesus Christ awaiting her in heaven. She passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, in her home surrounded by her seven children.
Beverly was the 11th child born in 1941 to her loving parents, Norman H. Pratt Sr. and Elsie M. (Ardt) Pratt. She married her husband John F. Ryan in 1969 and together had a total of eight children: MaryAnn Campagnano (Angelo), AnnMarie Ryan, John Ryan Jr., Helene Ryan, Thomas Ryan (Pia), Alice Nestler, Paul Ryan (Margaret) and deceased infant, Edward Simon Ryan.
She was a grandmother “Mema” to eight beautiful grandchildren: Shadai, Dominique (Ben), Samuel, Joscelyn, Mattia, Liliana, Joseph and Jackson and two beautiful great-grandchildren, Samson and Lena.
Beverly’s busy lifestyle began when she met her “confirmed bachelor” (who rapidly made up for lost time!) at the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Troy NY. Soon after they were married her duties as a mom and wife became a whirlwind of numerous jobs in between raising their children and becoming involved with all their school activities. Life in the Ryan household was never boring. When her husband Jack became Mayor of the City of Rensselaer she stepped into the political arena. Shortly after that she opened up her own Irish shop. Beverly worked part-time at various jobs including dealerships such as Marsh Hallman, DePaula, Keeler and Salisbury, but her longest tenure was at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She made numerous life-long friends along the way.
She is also survived by her two sisters, Rita Burns of Rensselaer and Mary Holmquist of Greenwich, as well as over 200 nieces and nephews.
Beverly is predeceased by her parents; five brothers, Thomas, Walter, Norman Jr., Edward and James Pratt; and five sisters, Marie Griffin, Helen Pratt, Margaret Shook, Nancy VanDetta and Patricia Bourdeau.
As a side note: although all of her children & grandchildren claimed to be “mom’s favorite,” she unequivocally loved each and every one of them without question!
